To my delight (as an amateur fashion photographer), a unique twist in street style has become easily accessible. A local outdoor flea market just down the street from me in Hollywood, lies such a place.
Located on the corner of Fairfax and Melrose in the high school parking lot, each Sunday throughout the entire calender year, stands are setup for all the curious crafty shopper's alike. From books, personalized fashion, art, camera's, antiques and even food, are all up for grabs. If you're as easy as I am and can afford the $3 entry fee, chances are you'll see it all and walk out of there with hand fulls (or at times, stacked on your shoulders) some of the most unexpected exquisite purchased item's.
Home made incense has been my latest obsession, yep some of which is actually quite refreshing and doesn't make your place smell like your local head-shop; not that there's anything wrong with that...
I've literally spent my afternoon's looking through piles of people's personally developed photos that range from the early century to late 90's. How the seller came up with all these images?, no clue. Yes this is, well, kinda weird and even slightly creepy but the awkward smile expressed upon the viewer's face is always priceless, remember people are buying stuff like this- images of people and families they have never before seen, some disturbing and other's hilarious, like I said it's Hollywood.
But, the part I have come to enjoy most are the people that expose themselves to this environment each week, some going above and beyond in replicating their own respectable taste in fashion... and to the T at that.
In the below gallery are just a few selections. Enjoy!
